Microsoft Word Speaks Aloud!

You can get MS Word to read your text aloud (though this requires changing a couple of settings—so you will want to do it to your own computer, not a campus machine). By the way, you do NOT want to use Windows Narrator! All that program can do is to read the edges of the page—things like the names of the icons and positions of the scroll ribbons. It cannot read text in the center!

Getting it to talk

Open the MS Word file, highlight the text you want to hear, and click the Speak icon in the ribbon above.
