Suggested Schedule for English Essays

The next few essays for this course work on a three-week writing cycle, and we all know that working gradually on an essay (not just throwing it together at the last second) is the best way to get a good grade. Here is a three-week schedule which will work for your essays.*

First draft First draft First draft Peer Edit Final draft Final draft Off

This corresponds to the four-part procedure that I frequently say is behind all writing projects:

  1.  Think
  2.  Gather
  3.  Draft
  4.  Revise

* This material is adapted from Budgeting Your Time to Complete a Research Paper. (Please do not be put off by the "For Dummies" part of the title. The advice is excellent.)
