As we begin this course, I want you to get used to the idea of writing, and I need some kind of early idea how your writing is working.
Write a three-page essay that discusses the most important piece of writing you have done. It does not have to be a piece of writing for school—other kinds of writing (an apology to a friend, an application for a job) can also be important, and you get to define "important."
Do not assume that your reader understands things before you explain them. Be specific! Be concrete! Quote that piece of writing! Give an example or two!
Length: The equivalent of a three-page paper. A three-page paper should be between 560 and 680 words long, not counting title, your name, etc.
Format: Standard MLA format. (12-point Times Roman type, double-spaced, 1" margin all around, MLA header.)
This essay is worth 75 points.
